How a natural pet brand grew revenue 35% year on year

A UK brand selling natural dog and cat treats, chews, and toys from its own online shop and through independent pet shops. They needed ads that paid for themselves, more sales from search, and more shoppers sent to local stockists.

The challenge

Most of the brand's search traffic came from people who already knew its name. In August 2025, "dog toys" showed the site 8,507 times in Google and brought 30 clicks. The site had technical problems too: links between the retail and trade sites pointed at the wrong pages, and many product pages had no meta description.

Ads were selling, but each new customer from paid ads cost £6.64 in July 2025. The brand also sells through independent pet shops, so it wanted shoppers sent to a local stockist as well as to its own online shop.

What we did

  • Rebuilt Google Ads around what sells. Separate Performance Max campaigns for dog toys, cat toys, and chews, a brand campaign bid on return, and new bidding strategies tested as experiments before rollout.

  • Kept catalogue ads running on Meta. Advantage+ shopping ads ran all year, with seasonal campaigns for Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas, and Valentine's Day.

  • Fixed the search basics, then wrote for buyers. We fixed the links between the two sites, wrote every missing meta description, rewrote the existing blog posts, and published a new post each month.

  • Sent shoppers to local stockists. We tracked Find a stockist searches and form submissions, and reviewed the online shop for places to point visitors there.
